The Toastmasters Vision

"Toastmasters International empowers people to achieve their full potential and realise their dreams. Through our member clubs, people throughout the world can improve their communication and leadership skills, giving them the courage to change."

The Toastmasters Mission

"Toastmasters International is the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communications a worldwide reality.

Through its member clubs, Toastmasters International helps men and women learn the art of speaking, listening and thinking - vital skills that promote self-actualisation, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding, and contribute to the betterment of mankind.

It is basic to this mission that Toastmasters International continually expand its worldwide network of clubs, thereby offering ever-greater numbers of people the opportunity to befefit from its programmes."

How Toastmasters Meets Your Needs:

  • Self paced programmes allow you to progress as rapidly or gradually as your needs dictate
  • The hands-on Communication and Leadership programme provides the "how-to" and the practical experience so critical to progress
  • The Toastmasters programme is cost effective
  • An atmosphere of professional camaraderie makes your Toastmasters Club a unique learning environment - informal, yet dedicated to learning
  • The Toastmasters programme can be tailored to meet your personal objectives. Whether you desire improvement in prepared or impromptu speaking, greater skill in the use of visual aids, experience and knowledge is to be gained in the areas that interest you most
  • Over 3,000,000 people world-wide have benefitted from Toastmasters training
  • Toastmasters Clubs are everywhere, there is sure to be one in you area

How The Programme Works:

  • Each new Toastmaster receives a copy of the basic Communication and Leadership manual which contains ten speaking assignments for the participants to complete
  • The Communication and Leadership programme manual is designed with the new Toastmaster in mind, providing helpful advice to the speaker in areas such as organisation, vocal inflection and persuasiveness
  • After giving a prepared speech, each Toastmaster receives a constructive speech evaluation. This process recognises speakers for their strengths and provides valuable insight into problem areas
  • Upon completion of the basic Communication and Leadership programme, Toastmasters may participate in the Advanced Communication and Leadership programme. Participants may choose from specific business oriented topics such as Speeches by Management and Technical Presentations
  • Workshop style Success/Leadership programmes are also available, offering opportunities for further skill development in areas such as leadership, public speaking and conducting business meetings
  • Toastmasters is more than just giving prepared speeches. During each meeting you will learn how to conduct a business meeting
